ABOUT 

The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible. This initiative provides Afghan personnel essential support at secure locations outside Afghanistan

VENTSPILS, Latvia - Marines with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve and 4th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, Force Headquarters Group, Marine Forces Reserve, execute a amphibious assault training exercise in Ventspils, Latvia, during Exercise Saber Strike 17, June 6, 2017. The beach landings took place concurrently between exercise Saber Strike and Baltic Operations. Exercise Saber Strike 17 is an annual combined-joint exercise conducted at various locations throughout the Baltic region and Poland. The combined training prepares NATO Allies and partners to effectively respond to regional crises and to meet their own security needs by strengthening their borders and countering threats.
