ABOUT 

The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible. This initiative provides Afghan personnel essential support at secure locations outside Afghanistan

ARCTIC EDGE 24: U.S. Marines and U.S. Army soldiers conduct joint HIMARS drills
A U.S. Marine Corps High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) is deployed during drills in preparation of exercise Arctic Edge 2024 in Fort Greely, Alaska, Feb. 18, 2024. The HIMARS weapon system is a highly mobile artillery rocket system that fires six guided missiles in quick succession. ARCTIC EDGE 2024 (AE24) is a U.S. Northern Command-led homeland defense exercise demonstrating the U.S. military’s capabilities in extreme cold weather, joint force readiness, and U.S. military commitment to mutual strategic security interests in the Arctic region.
