ABOUT 

Gunslinger is a large military exercise conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, and the Kansas Air National Guard’s 134th Air Control Squadron of McConnell Air Force Base. More than 1,300 Marines from 11 home training centers across the country have deployed to multiple areas throughout Kansas to participate in Gunslinger 22.

Marines ice fish with Alaskan natives
A sailor with 4th Medical Battalion, 4th Marine Logistics Group, Marine Forces Reserve holds an Inupiaq fishing rod as other service members dig a hole in the ice covering Kotzebue Sound, April 17. Marines and sailors used these authentic Native American ice fishing rods made out of wood to catch 3 fish, April 11, but unsuccessfully did not catch anything on the following fishing trip, April 17.
