ABOUT 

Gunslinger is a large military exercise conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, and the Kansas Air National Guard’s 134th Air Control Squadron of McConnell Air Force Base. More than 1,300 Marines from 11 home training centers across the country have deployed to multiple areas throughout Kansas to participate in Gunslinger 22.

Marines with MIU and Marine Corps Software Factory develop tools for the modern battlefield
U.S. Marine Corps Capt. David Whalen, assigned to the Marine Innovation Unit (MIU), Marine Forces Reserve, works on developing a “Flight Mode” software feature at the Marine Corps Software Factory (MCSWF) in Austin, Texas, 17 - 29 March, 2025. MIU Marines are assisting MCSWF in the development and production of software solutions that address critical needs for the Marine Corps, including Flight Mode, an interface that makes it easier for pilots to receive and record digital information in flight. MIU is a Selected Marine Corps Reserve unit headquartered in Newburgh, N.Y. that accelerates the development and adoption of advanced capabilities across the Marine Corps.
