ABOUT 

Mountain Warfare Training Exercise (MTX) 2022 sees 1st Battalion, 24th Marines (Reinforced) conducting Mountain Exercise 4-22 aboard Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center Bridgeport, Calif., in order to sustain individual warfighting  proficiency and improve, sustain, and evaluate company-level offensive and defensive tasks as well as battalion-level planning and command and control.

Brian Brodman and a mortarman with Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment hangs a round in the tube before dropping to fire at simulated targets down range as part of an indirect-fire weapons integration exercise Aug. 15, 2014, in Camp Lejeune, N.C. at exercise Heavy Metal 14. Before mortars are fired, mortarmen must wait for the fire direction center to give the signal to fire after each gun has confirmed that their target is properly sighted in.
