Wright (left) at Portland, Ore., Feb. 1, 2019. Wright was awarded the medal for his actions on Aug. 21, 1967, when he led a reaction force against North Vietnamese forces that had ambushed an Army convoy and pinned down his company commander’s relief force. While exposed to intense enemy fire, Wright’s tactical skills and placement of fire support enabled his force to steadily advance and rescue the besieged Soldiers and Marines.
