ABOUT

Mountain Warfare Training Exercise (MTX) 2022 sees 1st Battalion, 24th Marines (Reinforced) conducting Mountain Exercise 4-22 aboard Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center Bridgeport, Calif., in order to sustain individual warfighting proficiency and improve, sustain, and evaluate company-level offensive and defensive tasks as well as battalion-level planning and command and control.

Kevlar Helmet Return Ceremony

Cpl. Nicholas DeSantis-Austin, second from left, team leader with 3rd Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, poses with family members after his Kevlar Helmet Return ceremony at Fort Benning, Ga., June 9, 2019. On Aug. 4, 2018, during the execution of Operation Gladius Nolay, aboard the Afghan Army Camp Nolay in Sangin District, Afghanistan, DeSantis-Austin was struck in the helmet by enemy sniper fire while providing security on a rooftop post.
