Marines from Marine Forces Reserve present colors at a wreath laying ceremony for Marine Corps Maj. Daniel Carmick, at the St. Louis Cemetery No. 2 in New Orleans, Nov. 6, 2017. This ceremony is held annually to celebrate and honor the legacy and actions of Maj. Carmick during the Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812. Maj. Carmick’s leadership on the battlefield was an essential contribution that resulted in the defeat of British troops and prevented the seizure and conquest of extensive Louisiana territory.
