ABOUT 

"Marines from 2nd Battalion 23d Marine Regiment will conduct mountain training exercises aboard Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center, Bridgeport allowing Marines to sustain warfighting functions while participating in realistic combat training in a mountainous environment. The purpose of MTX is to facilitate increased readiness and to challenge units’ ability to plan and perform."

End of Duty: a LCpl. Smarr Story
A letter written by Lance Cpl. Nicholas Smarr to his mother while he was in recruit training, is displayed at the Smarr residence in Americus, Ga., Dec. 6, 2018. Smarr served as a police officer for the Americus Police Department before being killed in the line of duty on Dec. 7, 2016. Smarr was a Reserve Marine and was posthumously awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal on Dec. 7, 2018. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Niles Lee)
