Task Force Pickett Toy Drive
U.S. Marines with 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, and a member of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops gather toys to hand out to Afghan individuals at Fort Pickett, Virginia, Nov. 20, 2021. Task Force Pickett personnel conducted the toy drive to ensure Afghan children have access to toys and games while they await resettlement across the U.S. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible. This initiative provides Afghan personnel essential support at secure locations outside Afghanistan. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Corey Mathews)
