"Marines from 2nd Battalion 23d Marine Regiment will conduct mountain training exercises aboard Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center, Bridgeport allowing Marines to sustain warfighting functions while participating in realistic combat training in a mountainous environment. The purpose of MTX is to facilitate increased readiness and to challenge units’ ability to plan and perform."

U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. John Kelliher, Commanding General, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Forces Reserve, visits with the Marines of Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron (VMGR) 234, Marine Aircraft Group 41, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Forces Reserve during Distinguished Visitor’s (DV) Day as part of exercise Arctic Edge 2024 (AE24) at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, March 4, 2024. Kelliher discussed the strategic importance of operating in an austere environment and commemorated the Marines on their resiliency. Training in an arctic environment cultivates a resilient force adept at adapting to extreme conditions, guaranteeing preparedness for potential conflicts in challenging terrains, and augmenting the overall proficiency of armed forces to operate effectively in diverse and demanding scenarios. Arctic Edge 2024 is a U.S. Northern Command-led homeland defense exercise demonstrating the U.S. military’s capabilities in extreme cold weather, joint force readiness, and U.S. military commitment to mutual strategic security interests in the arctic region.
