"Marines from 2nd Battalion 23d Marine Regiment will conduct mountain training exercises aboard Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center, Bridgeport allowing Marines to sustain warfighting functions while participating in realistic combat training in a mountainous environment. The purpose of MTX is to facilitate increased readiness and to challenge units’ ability to plan and perform."

The AFX is the primary readiness-building event prior to Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division’s upcoming deployment to Okinawa, Japan, in support of the Marine Corps’ Unit Deployment Program.
