ABOUT 

"Marines from 2nd Battalion 23d Marine Regiment will conduct mountain training exercises aboard Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center, Bridgeport allowing Marines to sustain warfighting functions while participating in realistic combat training in a mountainous environment. The purpose of MTX is to facilitate increased readiness and to challenge units’ ability to plan and perform."

Combat Lifesaver Course recertification trainer Petty Officer 2nd Class Henry Ortiz, a corpsman with 4th Medical Bn. and native of Phoenix, Ariz., prepares a nasopharyngeal for a demonstration during Exercise Javelin Thrust. A nasopharyngeal is one way to open an airway through the nostril in the event of a blocked windpipe. Javelin Thrust is an annual large-scale exercise here which allows active and reserve Marines and sailors from 38 different states to train together as a seamless Marine Air Ground Task Force.
