ABOUT

UNITAS, which is Latin for unity, celebrates its 64th anniversary in 2023, and serves as the longest-running multinational maritime exercise in the world.  

From 11-21 July 2023, USNAVSO, MARFORSOUTH, MARFORRES, and SOCSOUTH, alongside 20 partnered nations, will conduct multi-domain maritime operations in support of UNITAS LXIV in the vicinity of Cartagena, Coveñas & Barranquilla, Colombia.

U.S. Marines assigned to Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Forces UNITAS, and partnered and allied nations conduct multilateral training during UNITAS LXIV in Colombia, July 11 - 21, 2023. UNITAS, hosted by Colombia this year, is the world’s longest-running annual multinational maritime exercise that focuses on enhancing interoperability among multiple nations and joint forces during littoral and amphibious operations in order to build on existing regional partnerships and create new enduring relationships that promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the U.S. Southern Command’s area of responsibility. Combat Veteran Marines Participate in Community Relations Event with Columbia College Chicago Students.
Marines with 2nd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve speak to Columbia College Chicago about the global war on terrorism during an informal discussion at their training center in Chicago, Jan. 20, 2016. During the event, the students who are enrolled in a global war on terror class were encouraged to ask the Marines any questions regarding Operation Enduring Freedom and Operations Iraqi Freedom. While participating, the Marines and students were separated into small groups where they began to talk and share personal stories and experiences about their military career. Many Americans, like the majority of these students, do not have regular interactions with Marines. As the most geographically dispersed command in the Marine Corps, however, Marine Forces Reserve is uniquely positioned to have these kinds of community interactions.
