ABOUT

Arctic Edge 25 is a Joint Chiefs of Staff designated joint and combined field training exercise oriented on homeland defense in the Alaska/Arctic region. This exercise provides an opportunity to highlight cross command coordination in the Alaskan theater of operations for homeland defense.

U.S. Marines with 2nd Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, participate in ARCTIC EDGE 2025 (AE25) Alaska, Aug. 8-24th, 2025. Specialized Arctic training generates valuable lessons learned for warfighters and enablers ensuring they can execute their assigned missions in any environment. AE25 is a NORAD and U.S. Northern Command-led homeland defense exercise designed to improve readiness, demonstrate capabilities and enhance Joint and Allied Force interoperability in the Arctic. Marines with MIU and Marine Corps Software Factory develop tools for the modern battlefield
U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Eric Wikman, assigned to the Marine Innovation Unit (MIU), discusses updates to the Augmented Reconnaissance and Estimate of the Situation (ARES) software application at the Marine Corps Software Factory (MCSWF) in Austin, Texas, 17 - 29 March, 2025. MIU Marines are assisting MCSWF in the development and production of software solutions that address critical needs for the Marine Corps, including an update to ARES that predicts helicopter landing zones based on topographical data. MIU is a Selected Marine Corps Reserve unit headquartered in Newburgh, N.Y. that accelerates the development and adoption of advanced capabilities across the Marine Corps.
