ABOUT

Arctic Edge 25 is a Joint Chiefs of Staff designated joint and combined field training exercise oriented on homeland defense in the Alaska/Arctic region. This exercise provides an opportunity to highlight cross command coordination in the Alaskan theater of operations for homeland defense.

U.S. Marines with 2nd Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, participate in ARCTIC EDGE 2025 (AE25) Alaska, Aug. 8-24th, 2025. Specialized Arctic training generates valuable lessons learned for warfighters and enablers ensuring they can execute their assigned missions in any environment. AE25 is a NORAD and U.S. Northern Command-led homeland defense exercise designed to improve readiness, demonstrate capabilities and enhance Joint and Allied Force interoperability in the Arctic. Staff Sgt. Jim Angulo from Headquarters and Service Company, 2nd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment uses the Handheld Interagency Identification Detection Equipment device to record the fingerprints of an inhabitant of a house where his squad found explosive-making materials during a training exercise here June 27, 2008. Angulo is assisted by an Iraqi interpreter (rear). The HIIDE, which records and stores biometrics data, is currently used in Iraq and Afghanistan to identify and apprehend insurgents and other suspected criminals. A reserve Marine and New York City police officer, Angulo is preparing for his second tour in Iraq.
