Enlisted Marines Experience What it Takes to Become a Marine Officer
Marines with Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES) watch the evening parade at Marine Barracks Washington in Washington D.C, Aug. 20, 2021, during a Summer Officer Tour. The parade features “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, the Marine Corps Color Guard, the Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon, Ceremonial Marchers and Cpl. Chesty XV, the official mascot of Marine Barracks Washington. Enlisted Marines participated in the Commander of MARFORRES and Marine Forces South’s inaugural Summer Officer Tour to gain insight into the journey of becoming a Marine Corps Officer. The tour included visits to Officer Candidates School, The Basic School, Marine Corps University, and The National Museum of The Marine Corps. Marine Forces Reserve is seeking to identify high performing Active Component, Active Reserve and Selected Marine Corps Reserve Marines, who offer unique perspectives, to pursue a commission as an officer in an effort to better prepare the Marine Corps Total Force to meet future threats.
