ABOUT 

AE26 is a North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) Tier 2 Joint Field Training Exercise (FTX) in the Alaska Theater of Operations (AKTO). AE26 will also include USNORTHCOM activities in Greenland, focusing on joint and combined homeland defense readiness and operations in the Arctic region. AE26 is aligned with Large Scale Global Exercise 26 (LSGE26), a globally integrated joint force FTX with defense partners and interagency organizations intended to shape the strategic operating environment, promote global integration and integrated deterrence, and mitigate strategic risk.

Families of Detroit Montford Point Marines presented with Congressional Gold Medals by 1/24
Mrs. Pauline Wallick, widow of Montford Point Marine Robert Wallick, is presented with a Congressional Gold Medal at her home Oct. 23, 2015, by Lt. Col. Michael F. Arnone, Inspector-Instructor 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, and Sgt. Maj. Joseph S. Gregory, Inspector-Instructor sergeant major of 1/24. The Congressional Gold Medal is the highest civilian honor bestowed by Congress for distinguished achievement. The President of the United States, President Barack Obama signed into law, the legislation to award the Congressional Gold Medal to Montford Point Marines on Nov. 23, 2011. This award recognizes Montford Point Marines' contributions to the Marine Corps and the United States of America from 1942 to 1949, when approximately 20,000 African American recruits were trained at a segregated base called Camp Montford Point.
