ABOUT 

AE26 is a North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) Tier 2 Joint Field Training Exercise (FTX) in the Alaska Theater of Operations (AKTO). AE26 will also include USNORTHCOM activities in Greenland, focusing on joint and combined homeland defense readiness and operations in the Arctic region. AE26 is aligned with Large Scale Global Exercise 26 (LSGE26), a globally integrated joint force FTX with defense partners and interagency organizations intended to shape the strategic operating environment, promote global integration and integrated deterrence, and mitigate strategic risk.

U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Samuel Wallace, an anti-tank missile gunner for Anti-Tank Training Company, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve prepares to fire a Tube-Launched Optically-Tracked Wire-Guided (TOW) weapon system missile during a live-fire exercise at Fort Chaffee Joint Maneuver Training Center, Arkansas, March 3, 2023. The Marines fired the TOW weapon system from a Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV), to familiarize themselves with the safety and firing procedures associated with it. The JLTV is equipped with more highly evolved technology compared to the basic equipment of a High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV). The upgraded vehicle is mechanically reliable, maintainable with onboard diagnostics, all-terrain mobile, and equipped to link into current and future tactical data nets.
