An F-5N Tiger II takes off on a training exercise aboard Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, Jan. 26. Marine Fighter Training Squadron 401 worked with Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One to conduct the Marine Division Tactics Course
at the air station. VMFT-401 provided the adversary air while the MAWTS-1 instructor pilots taught and evaluated MCAS Beaufort F/A-18 pilots during the course. The pilot is an instructor pilot with VMFT-401. Both VMFT-401 and MAWTS-1 are stationed
aboard MCAS Yuma, Ariz.

Marines with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 773 traveled from the 4th Marine Aircraft Wing in New Orleans to Marine Corps Air Station New River, North Carolina, in support of 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division during routine training on Oct. 5, 2016. The two units worked in conjunction with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 167 and Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 269 to provide air support for 10th Marines. HMLA-773 is the only Reserve Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron in the Marine Corps.

Marine Aircraft Group 49, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, held a memorial ceremony Sept. 18, 2016, at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans, La., to honor two fallen pilots from their unit. Maj. Erik A. Boyce and Maj. Jason Grogan were killed July 6, 2016, when the Bell 525 helicopter they were piloting crashed near Arlington, Texas. Grogan and Boyce were both assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 773, Detachment A, at NAS JRB New Orleans at the time of their deaths.
