U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Jesus Campos-Gaona, a squad automatic rifleman with India Company, 3rd Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, from De Queen, Arizona, marks his target while executing Range 400 during Integrated Training Exercise (ITX) 4-22 at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif., July 23, 2022. Range 400 is used to conduct company-level live-fire training in a deliberate assault against prepared defensive positions. ITX is designed to provide large forces the opportunity to command and control their Marines through a live-fire program incorporating every element of the MAGTF. U.S. Marines with 3rd Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, prepare to advance while conducting Range 400 during Integrated Training Exercise (ITX) 4-22 at Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif., July 23, 2022. Range 400 is used to conduct company-level live-fire training in a deliberate assault against prepared defensive positions. Reserve Marines and Sailors have come together from across the nation to form an integrated Marine Air-Ground Task Force to take part in a live-fire, combined arms exercise that will better prepare Marine Forces Reserve in its mission to augment and reinforce the Active Component. U.S. Marine Corps Col. Quintin Jones, commanding officer of Marine Air-Ground Task Force 23, prepares to observe Marines execute Range 400 during Integrated Training Exercise (ITX) 4-22 at Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif., July 23, 2022. Range 400 is used to conduct company-level live-fire training in a deliberate assault against prepared defensive positions. Marines and Sailors with MAGTF-23 maintain various civilian careers, but continue to answer the irrational call to service in the Marine Corps Reserve, staying combat ready through challenging, realistic training. U.S. Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Brandon Patrick, a combat engineer assigned to Echo Company, 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division, poses for a portrait during Integrated Training Exercise 4-22, at Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif., July 22, 2022. "I've gotten out before. I got out in '07 and came back to active duty, did eight years…then continued to serve in the Reserves. I already knew from the first time that I got out that it's not so much the Marine Corps you miss; it's the Marines. There's nothing like us. Regardless of how nasty it gets, I love Marines." U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Jon Weaver, an air traffic controller assigned to Detachment A, Marine Air Control Squadron 24, Marine Air Control Group 48, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, from Longview, Texas, poses for a portrait during Integrated Training Exercise (ITX) 4-22, at Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif., July 20, 2022. "I've gotten a lot more opportunities after I came here than I did on the active side. I was never able to go to training exercises like ITX; they're sending me to WTI, talking about putting me on a MEU, so that's probably the best part about being a reservist."
