The Marine Forces Reserve colorguard led a contingent of MARFORRES Marines through the streets of New Orleans Nov. 10, as a part of Louisiana's bicentennial military parade. The Marines were not only celebrating the bicentennial, but Veterans Day and the birthday of the Marine Corps as well. More than 150 Marines participated in the parade as thousands of New Orleanians cheered from the roadsides.

The Marine Forces Reserve colorguard led a contingent of MARFORRES Marines through the streets of New Orleans Nov. 10, as a part of Louisiana's bicentennial military parade. The Marines were not only celebrating the bicentennial, but Veterans Day and the birthday of the Marine Corps as well. More than 150 Marines participated in the parade as thousands of New Orleanians cheered from the roadsides.

Cristel Zimmermanoset, zeros clerk at the finance office, MarForRes, decide on which toy to purchase for the Toys for Tots campaign. The Toys for Tots campaigns around the country have been helping give toys to less fortunate children since 1947. Marine Forces Reserve along with local community organizations are working hand-in-hand to top last years number of more than nine million toys, and continue their positive impact on the development of today's youth.

Members of the local Molly Marine chapter of the Women Marines Association gather around the Molly Marine statue they restore every year. This original Molly Marine statue was sculpted in New Orleans in 1943 in order to assist in recruiting women during World War II. The statue now resides on the corner of Canal St. and Elk Pl. in the French Quarter. The Molly Marine chapter was awarded the Ruth and Dick Broe Award, the most prestigious award given to WMA chapters for overall outstanding chapter achievement, at their most recent national convention and professional development conference that took place in Philadelphia from Aug. 30 through Sept. 4.
