Capt. John A. McGurty Jr., Marine Forces Reserve force surgeon, received a Legion of Merit award during the annual MARFORRES Surgeon’s Conference at Marine Corps Support Facility New Orleans, Feb. 6, 2015. He was presented the award by Vice Admiral Robin R. Braun, Chief of Navy Reserve, for providing medical support to Marines at U.S. Marine Forces Central command from March 2011 to July 2014 as the force surgeon.

The Department of Defense Sexual Assault Prevention and Response office will recognize reserve, active-duty and civilian members from each branch of service who hold the position of sexual assault response coordinator. Awards will be given to
coordinators demonstrating noteworthy and outstanding service in support of service members in April 2015 during Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention month.
