Sgt. Maj. William F. Fitzgerald III receives the 4th Marine Aircraft Wing sword of office from Brig. Gen. William T. Collins during the 4th MAW relief and appointment ceremony April 14, 2013 at the Marine Corps Support Facility New Orleans. Fitzgerald took over as sergeant major of the 4th MAW after serving as the sergeant major of Marine Forces South from September 2009 to March 2013.

Smith, the repairable issue point chief for Marine Forces Reserve G4 (logistics and services), was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal after he was selected as the MARFORRES 2012 Marine of the Year (active component). Smith uses the training he received to train other Marines to “belt-up” in MCMAP.

After the Enlisted Awards Parade on Sept. 26, Gen. James F. Amos, commandant of the Marine Corps, and Sgt. Maj. Micheal P. Barrett, sergeant major of the Marine Corps, were invited to remain on Lejeune Field at Marine Corps Base Quantico to visit with the award winners. Sgt. Dante Capane was selected to receive the award and represent the best of the 39,000 Marine Reservists.
