Peter Hebert (center left), an Algiers Louisiana native and former Navy hospital corpsman, accepts the first piece of cake as the guest of honor at the Navy Hospital Corpsman Birthday cake-cutting ceremony at Marine Corps Support Facility, New Orleans, June 17, 2015. The first piece of cake is always traditionally given to the guest of honor, the second to the oldest Sailor present. Upon receiving the second piece of cake, the oldest Sailor will in turn pass it on to the youngest Sailor signifying the passing of experience and knowledge from the old to the young. The Hospital Corps celebrated their 117th birthday this year.
