Age 35, Garden City, Michigan Sgt Burgess was killed while conducting combat operations in the Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines, 4th Marine Division, Perrysburg, Ohio and attached to Regimental Combat Team-5, I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward). He died on November 9, 2006.
