UNITAS 2022
A U.S. Navy forklift moves U.S. Marine Corps equipment aboard Landing Craft, Utility 1663 from the amphibious transport dock ship USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19) in Rio de Janeiro in support of Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force UNITAS LXIII, Sept. 3, 2022. Marines and their equipment are moving ashore from the Mesa Verde to begin training during UNITAS LXIII. UNITAS is the world’s longest-running annual multinational maritime exercise that focuses on enhancing interoperability among multiple nations and joint forces during littoral and amphibious operations in order to build on existing regional partnerships and create new enduring relationships that promote peace, stability and prosperity in the U.S. Southern Command’s area of responsibility.
