U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Lucas Cook, a field radio operator assigned to 4th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, observes targets alongside a joint terminal attack controller (JTAC) assigned to Marine Forces Special Operations Command, during Marine Forces Reserve Tactical Air Control Party Fire Exercise 23-1 at Rattlesnake Range, Camp Shelby, Mississippi, Oct. 27, 2022. JTACs are Marines from ground combat communities who receive specialized training to coordinate and direct close air support. The purpose of TACP FIREX 23-1 is to maintain joint fires proficiency and readiness to support the total force. Cook is a native of Tampa, Florida and attended Countryside High School.
