The new Marine Force Reserve headquarters building is under construction at Naval Support Activity New Orleans. The 417,000 square foot facility will maintain the military presence in the region following the closure of the previous building across the river. The state funded building will be home to more than 1900 active duty, reserve component and full-time support staff. The project has been awarded a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Gorenflo is touring the facility as part of New Orleans Navy Week, one of 21 Navy Weeks planned across America in 2011. Navy Weeks are designed to show Americans the investment they have made in their Navy and increase awareness in cities that do not have a significant Navy presence.
