Jose Espitia, a flightline mechanic with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 775, Marine Aircraft Group 41, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, receives a challenge coin from Brig. Gen. Patrick Tiernan, commanding general of 4th Marine Air Wing, after a successful operational training at Marine Corps Air Station, Camp Pendleton, California, Jan. 29, 2026. As the lead of an aircraft recovery effort, Espitia was responsible for organizing and supervising significant maintenance evolutions at an unfamiliar airfield, meanwhile selflessly mentoring junior and senior maintainers.
