U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Joseph Willie, a military police officer with 4th Law Enforcement Battalion, Force Headquarters Group, Marine Forces Reserve, carries an M240B medium machine gun in Elvegardsmoen, Norway, March 3, 2026. The hike was conducted to ensure the Marines were physically prepared for training in the arctic environment during exercise Cold Response 26. A key component of NATO's enhanced vigilance activity Arctic Sentry, exercise Cold Response 26 is a Norwegian-led winter military exercise designed to enhance collective defense capabilities and ensure U.S. readiness to rapidly deploy and seamlessly operate alongside NATO Allies in challenging arctic conditions.
