Staff Sgt. Tim Chandler, an air support operations instructor based at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, Calif., conducts airborne radio relay from the cockpit of a KC-130 aircraft between Marine Forces Reserve units on the ground and CH-46 helicopters during a casualty evacuation training exercise which took place at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Center in Bridgeport, Calif., Naval Air Station Fallon, Nev. and Hawthorne Army Depot, Nev. June 17. Chandler, a Yoncalla, Ore. native, was based out of Fallon with his detachment of air support controllers June 13 - 19 to support Marine Forces Reserve units in Javelin Thrust 2009. This large-scale exercise was conducted at six bases in three states to prepare reserve units for their future role in deployed Marine Air Ground Task Forces.
