Boyce were killed July 6, 2016, when the Bell 525 helicopter they were piloting crashed near Arlington, Texas. Grogan and Boyce were both assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 773, Detachment A, at NAS JRB New Orleans at the time of their deaths.
