About

Exercise Northern Strike is a military readiness event hosted annually at Michigan National Guard facilities. With approximately 5,000 participating Marines, Soldiers, Airmen and Sailors, Northern Strike is one of the largest reserve component exercises supported by the U.S. military. The mission is to exercise participating units’ full-spectrum of capabilities through realistic, cost-effective joint fires training in an adaptable environment, with an emphasis on joint and coalition force cooperation.

Montford Point Marines receive Congressional Gold Medal
Montford Point Marines gather together for the presentation of the Congressional Gold Medal to deceased Montford Point Marines Charles E. Allen and Lawrence Gabriel, July 16, 2014. Family members accepted the medals on behalf of the Marines, during the National Montford Point Marine Association’s 49th Annual National Convention. Montford Point Marines as well as active duty and Reserve Marines will attend different seminars during the conference to help educate and redirect the efforts of the association.
