Age 26, Bexar, Texas Sgt. Ruiz died from wounds sustained while supporting combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. He was a mobilized Individual Ready Reserve Marine. While deployed in support of operation Enduring Freedom, he was attached to Combat Logistics Battalion 1, Combat Logistics Regiment 2, Marine Expeditionary Brigade-Afghanistan. He died on October 31, 2009.
