Sergeant Major Michelle Hill is a native of San Diego, California and relocated to Bellevue, Nebraska where she graduated high school in 1999. She enlisted in the Marine Corps in August of 1999 and graduated from MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina in November 1999. Following recruit training, Private Hill reported to Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Geiger, North Carolina in December 1999. After completing MCT, she received orders to her Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) School of Supply Administration aboard Camp Johnson, North Carolina.
In March of 2000, Private First Class (PFC) Hill graduated MOS school and reported to Headquarters Battery, 12th Marines Regiment located in Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. Here, she served as the Fiscal clerk. During her extended tour in Okinawa with 12th Marines, PFC Hill was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal in June 2000 and Corporal in December 2000.
In March 2002, Corporal Hill was given orders to the History and Museums Division, Headquarters Marine Corps, located at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC. While assigned to the museum, Corporal Hill worked as the Supply NCOIC, Publications NCOIC, and served as the unit’s Security Manager. Corporal Hill graduated from Supply Intermediate Course April 2002. In November 2002, she was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
In May 2004, Sergeant Hill requested special duty orders and graduated from Marine Security Guard (MSG) School. While assigned to Marine Security Guard Battalion, she served as the Assistant Detachment Commander in Bolivia, Italy, and Nicaragua. While assigned to American Consulate Milan, Italy, Staff Sergeant Hill was responsible for activating this new Detachment and establishing lasting relationships with the Consulate community.
In July 2006, after successfully completing her MSG tour, Staff Sergeant Hill returned to her primary MOS of Supply Administration with orders to Inspector Instructor located in Naval Base Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico. During this tour under 4th Landing Support Battalion, she served as the Supply Chief and as the Toys for Tots Coordinator for all the Caribbean.
In November 2010. Gunnery Sergeant Hill reported to 1st Supply Battalion where she served as the Fiscal Staff Non-commissioned Officer In Charge (SNCOIC) of the Supply Management Unit (SMU).
In September 2011, Gunnery Sergeant Hill was selected to serve on the I Marine Expeditionary Force Female Engagement Team (FET) 12-1 as the SNCOIC where she deployed with the I MEF FET in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to Regional Command Southwest, Afghanistan in March 2012. After her deployment in August 2012, Gunnery Sergeant Hill returned to 1st Supply Battalion as the Customer Service SNCOIC.
In June of 2013, Gunnery Sergeant Hill reported to the Wounded Warrior Battalion Detachment aboard Balboa Naval Medical Center San Diego where she served as the Operations Chief and later as the Company First Sergeant.
After selection to First Sergeant, she reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 1 aboard Camp Pendleton in March 2015 where she served as both the Remain Behind Element Sergeant Major and the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant.
In June of 2016, First Sergeant Hill reported to Marine Corps Embassy Security Guard where she served as the Senior Enlisted Leader for Region 9.
In August of 2019, Sergeant Major Hill reported to Marine Air Support Squadron 2 (MASS-2), aboard Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, where she served as the Senior Enlisted Leader. During her tour, MASS-2 was awarded as being the Air Command/Control Unit of the Year (2020).
In July 2020, Sergeant Major Hill reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit where she served as the Senior Enlisted Leader for the Logistics Combat Element.
In April 2022, Sergeant Major Hill reported to Site Support New Orleans at Joint Reserve Base, Naval Reserve Base where she serves as the Senior Enlisted Leader.
Her personal awards includes a Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Marine Corps Commendation medal (w/ 3 gold stars), Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal (w/ 1 gold star), and the Combat Action Ribbon.
SgtMaj Hill is unmarried and a senior with Park University pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
