Major Cody W. Matthews
Commanding Officer
Weapons Co., 1st Bn, 23d Marines

Major Cody Matthews graduated Texas State University in 2013 as a 4-year letterman of the football team. Upon completion of Ground Intelligence Officer's Course in 2016, he became the Battalion Intelligence Officer for 2d Battalion, 14th Marines. In 2018 he deployed to INDOPACOM in support of Unit Deployment Program-18 as the Scout Sniper Platoon Commander with 2d Battalion 23rd Marines. He then served as weapons platoon commander and Fire Support Team Leader for 1st Battalion 23rd Marines from 2019-2021. From 2021-2025 he served as Company Executive Officer for Company C, 1st Battalion, 23d Marines.

Major Matthews is a graduate of Joint Fires Observer School, and his personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
