Sergeant Major David J. Fetherolf is a native of Reading Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and reported MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina in June 2004 and meritoriously promoted to the rank of Private First Class. Upon earning the title Marine, he reported to Marine Combat Training in Camp Geiger North Carolina. He attended Motor Transport Operator School in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, earning the MOS of 3531, Motor Vehicle Operator in November 2004.
His services in the Operating Forces include duties as a Motor Transport Operator and Training NCO with 3D Transportation Support Battalion in Okinawa Japan. While there, he deployed in support of the 60th anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima and Operation Operation Cobra Gold. He deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006, augmented to Combat Logistics Battalion 7. While deployed, he was assigned the billet of Assistant Security Team Commander where he conducting convoy security operations throughout the Al Anbar Province. Sergeant Fetherolf reported to 9th Communication Battalion in Camp Pendleton, California, where he served as Platoon Sergeant for the Motor Transport Operator and Maintenance Platoon until being honorably discharged from active duty in June 2008.
In March 2010, he began serving in the Marine Corps Reserves as an Individual Mobilization Augmentee in the Baltimore region where he served in various capacities as Site Staff Non Commissioned Officer In Charge.
His services as Senior Enlisted Leader include duties as Company Gunnery Sergeant and Senior Enlisted Advisor, Marine Wing Support Squadron 471, Detachment A, from 2017 to 2020; Company First Sergeant, Headquarter Battery, 3D Battalion, 14th Marines from 2020 to 2023, and Company First Sergeant, Alpha Company, 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion from 2023 to 2026.
In March 2026, he was promoted to his current rank of Sergeant Major and assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 472 as the Command Senior Enlisted Advisor.
Sergeant Major Fetherolf's personal awards include two Navy Commendation Medals and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
