Biography

 

Lieutenant Colonel Charles A. Nassar
Commanding Officer
6th Engineer Support Battalion

Lieutenant Colonel Nassar began his military career with the United States Coast Guard in 2005.  Upon accepting a Reserve commission, he was stationed at Sector Detroit.  After promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade, he completed Boarding Officer school at the Maritime Law Enforcement Academy and returned to Sector Detroit as a law enforcement officer. While serving in the Coast Guard, LTJG Nassar also completed Anti-Terrorism/Seaport Security school and Facilities Security training.

LTJG Nassar accepted an appointment as a First Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps Reserve in 2008 and attended The Basic School.  After completing The Basic School, First Lieutenant Nassar attended the Combat Engineer Officer Course then reported to Engineer Company, Marine Wing Support Squadron 471 as the combat engineer Platoon Commander.  In 2010 Captain Nassar was selected to lead an engineer detachment with a Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force that conducted a theater security deployment to the Black Sea region.

After returning to Engineer Company in 2011, Captain Nassar assumed the Executive Officer billet until he was appointed as the Company Commander in 2012.  Promoted to Major in 2016, he assumed the Operations Officer billet for Marine Wing Support Squadron 471 before joining 6th Engineer Support Battalion in August 2018 as the Company Commander for Engineer Support Company.  Major Nassar next served as the 6th Engineer Support Battalion Executive Officer in 2020.  In 2022 Major Nassar accepted an active duty assignment with Marine Forces Reserve as an operations planner for the G-3/5.

Lieutenant Colonel Nassar is a Distinguished Graduate of the Expeditionary Warfare School, Weapons and Tactics Instructor course, and Air University Command and Staff Course.
