Sergeant Major Michael T. Perrault is a resident of Salem, New Hampshire and enlisted in the Marine Corps in September of 2004 and subsequently attended recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, Marine Combat Training at SOI-East, and Marine Aviation Supply School in Meridian, Mississippi.
His first duty station was Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) 26, Marine Corps Air Station New River where he served as an Aviation Supply Specialist from April 2005 to July 2008. During this time, he deployed twice to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and was meritoriously promoted to the ranks of Lance Corporal and Sergeant.
From July 2008 to January 2012, Sergeant Perrault served as a Marine Combat Instructor for Kilo Company, Marine Combat Training Battalion, School of Infantry - East. There he served in the billets of Squad Instructor, Company Police Sergeant, Platoon Commander, Primary Instructor of Weapons, and Weapons Section Chief Instructor. During this assignment, he was selected as the SOI-East NCO of the Quarter and meritoriously promoted to the rank Staff Sergeant.
In January 2012, upon successful completion of his Special Duty Assignment, Staff Sergeant Perrault was issued unaccompanied orders to MALS-36, MCAS Futenma in Okinawa, Japan where he served as an Aviation Supply Warehouse Chief. From 2013 to 2016, he again served at MALS-26 MCAS New River, and deployed once aboard the USS America (LHA-6) in support of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force - South. In October of 2015, he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.
From January 2016 to August 2018, Gunnery Sergeant Perrault served as the Civil-Military Operations Planner Chief and Training Chief for Headquarters Company, 6th Marine Regiment. During this time, he deployed to Afghanistan as part of Task Force Southwest (Roto 1) where he served additional billets such as Platoon Sergeant, Operations Chief, Watch Officer, and Foreign Security Force Advisor.
From August 2018 to August 2019, Gunnery Sergeant Perrault served as a Fleet Support Liaison at the Naval Warfare Information Center, formerly Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center – Atlantic aboard Norfolk Naval Base, Virginia and was selected and frocked to the rank of First Sergeant.
From August 2019 to November 2021, First Sergeant Perrault served as the Company 1stSgt for Alpha Company and Headquarters and Service Company at 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment. During this time, he participated in Infantry Training Exercise 19-1, MAGTF Warfighting Exercise, a battalion combat and readiness exercise, and deployed to Okinawa, Japan as part of the Unit Deployment Program–East.
From November 2021 to February 2023, First Sergeant Perrault served as the Headquarters Company 1stSgt at 6th Marine Regiment. In October 2022, he was selected to Sergeant Major and received orders to 1st Battalion, 25th Marines, Fort Devens, Massachusetts, where he currently serves as the Inspector-Instructor Sergeant Major and Command Senior Enlisted Leader.
Sergeant Major Perrault's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars and “C” device in lieu of third award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold stars in lieu of third award, and the Good Conduct Medal with one silver star in lieu of sixth award.
He has held obtained and held numerous additional MOS's throughout his career, to include Combat Marksmanship Coach, Combat Marksmanship Trainer, Martial Arts Instructor, Civil Affairs NCO, Civil-Military Operations Planner, and Foreign Security Force Advisor. He is a distinguished graduate of the SNCO Career Course, Advanced Course, and the Air Force Senior NCO Academy. He has completed various other professional military education courses, to include the Cornerstone Commander's Course, 1stSgt/MSgt Seminar, First Sergeant's Course, Senior Enlisted Legal Course, Senior Enlisted Joint PME I and II, and the Naval War College Primary Enlisted PME.
Sergeant Major Perrault also serves as a volunteer firefighter and is an active member of his community, serving as a member of the Jaffrey-Rindge Rotary Club and volunteer at the Cathedral of the Pines National War Memorial.
