Major McCormack is a native of Hamilton, NJ. He graduated from Ursinus College in May 2009 and was subsequently commissioned as a Second Lieutenant via the Platoon Leaders Class Program. He completed The Basic School in Dec 2010 and upon graduation, reported to Twentynine Palms, CA where he attended Air Defense Control Officer Course.
In April 2011, Second Lieutenant McCormack was assigned to Marine Air Control Squadron 4 in Okinawa, Japan where he served as the Operations Section OIC at the Tactical Air Control Center (TAOC) Detachment and as the TAOC Detachment OIC for two North Korean Ballistic Missile Defense operations.
In February 2013, First Lieutenant McCormack transferred to Beaufort, SC and checked into Early Warning and Control (EW/C) Detachment, Marine Air Control Squadron 2, in order to deploy in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. During the June 2013 to November 2013 deployment, he served as the Operations Section OIC and upon returning stateside maintained that billet until May 2014. In May 2014, Captain McCormack assumed command of the EW/C Detachment.
After his successful tour as Detachment Commander, Captain McCormack reported to Quantico, VA where he attended Expeditionary Warfare School from July 2016 to May 2017. Following graduation, he reported to Program Manager Air Command Control and Sensor Netting (PM AC2SN), Quantico, VA. While assigned to PM AC2SN, he was promoted to the rank of Major and served as the Common Aviation Command and Control System Production & Fielding and Small Form Factor Team Leads.
In July 2021, Major McCormack attended Marine Corps Command and Staff College (CSC) and upon graduation in July 2022, transferred to Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he assumed his current duties as Marine Air Control Squadron 24 Site Commander.
Major McCormack’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with two gold stars) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. He has a BS in Sports and Exercise Science from Ursinus College, a Master in Human Systems Integration from Naval Postgraduate School, a Master of Military Studies from CSC, and is a Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course graduate.
