Highly Decorated Vietnam Era Marine Honored, Mourned, Laid to Rest in Arizona
Gunnery Sgt., Serge Alphonse, Site Support Phoenix folds an American Flag in honor of Lt. Col. David Althoff (retired), at the Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery, Chandler Arizona, Mar. 21, 2022. Althoff served as a pilot in the Vietnam War and completed over 1,000 combat missions. He is credited with saving hundreds of Marines who were critically wounded in battle and the recipient of three Silver Stars, three Distinguished Flying Crosses, one Bronze Star, one Meritorious Service Medal and 55 Air Medals.
