Wreath Laying Ceremony for Robert Barrow, the 27th Commandant of the Marine Corps 2022

U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Matthew Norkus, a trumpet instrumentalist with the Marine Forces Reserve Band, plays the trumpet during a wreath laying ceremony on Nov. 10, 2022 at Grace Episcopal Church in Saint Francisville, Louisiana. The ceremony is an annual event that takes place on the Marine Corps birthday at Gen. Robert H. Barrow's gravesite, who served as the 27th Commandant of the Marine Corps. Lance Cpl. Norkus graduated from Point Pleasant High School and enlisted in the Marine Corps because music has always been a passion of his and states, "Becoming a Marine musician was an obvious choice after college."
