Remembering Senator Conrad Burns
Marines with 4th Law Enforcement Battalion, Force Headquarters Group, Marine Forces Reserve, prepare to fire three rifle volleys in honor of Conrad Burns, former U.S. Senator, during the memorial service at MetraPark’s Rimrock Auto Arena, May 6, 2016. Firing of the rifle volleys is a long standing tradition of funeral details as a way to honor the deceased veteran. Burns served in the Marine Corps from 1955-1957 and also served as a U.S. Senator from 1989-2007. Marine Forces Reserve performed 91 percent of all funeral honors rendered by the Marine Corps in calendar year 2015 and continues to provide timely and professional support to veterans.
