U.S. Marine receives the highest non-combat award

Cpl. Nathan Bryson poses for a photo with his girlfriend, father and grandparents after being awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal in Brook Park, Ohio, April 13, 2017. In 2014, Bryson and a fellow Marine helped rescue an elderly man from a burning vehicle. A Marine Corps veteran, Bryson most recently served as a motor transport operator for Headquarters and Support Battalion, School of Infantry East, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The Navy and Marine Corps Medal is awarded for acts of heroism despite personal risk and is the highest honor one can achieve for non-combat service. (U.S. Marine Corps Photo by Cpl.
