Staff Sgt. Jim Angulo from Headquarters and Service Company, 2nd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment uses the Handheld Interagency Identification Detection Equipment device to record the fingerprints of an inhabitant of a house where his squad found explosive-making materials during a training exercise here June 27, 2008. Angulo is assisted by an Iraqi interpreter (rear). The HIIDE, which records and stores biometrics data, is currently used in Iraq and Afghanistan to identify and apprehend insurgents and other suspected criminals. A reserve Marine and New York City police officer, Angulo is preparing for his second tour in Iraq.
