Innovative Readiness Training - Louisiana Care

ABOUT

On July 10-24, 2017, the Louisiana Care IRT contingent comprised of National Guard and Reserve assets of the U.S. Armed Forces will deploy to the medically underserved communities of Louisiana to conduct deployment and readiness training for military personnel. Incidental to military readiness training, the Louisiana Care IRT team will provide medical, dental and optometry care to assist local health and municipal authorities in addressing underserved and unmet community health and civic needs. Units will also conduct critical mission training and logistical movement in order to simulate military/civilian humanitarian operations and health care delivery in the time of crisis, conflict or disaster.

Pima County Roadwork visited by senator's office
Sgt. Gregory Novasky, a platoon leader with 6th Engineer Support Battalion, explains the water supply system to Anil Phull, Military and Veterans staffer for Senator Krysten Sinema's office in Tucson, Arizona on May 27th, 2021. The water is the key ingredient to the roadbed at Pima County Roadwork, an Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) program project that is rebuilding a 2.3 mile stretch of road that acts as a daily road, airfield and bus route. The IRT program pairs the needs of US communities with the training requirements of the military making it mutually beneficial. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Staff Sgt. Frans Labranche)
